In 1984, there was Coco, that sumptuous blend of wood, resins, flowers, spices and fruit.A treasure trove of splendours and an endless source of discovery and sensual delight.Base: tonka bean, sandalwood, vanilla, patchouli and white musk frankincense.Coco Noir was created by Jacques Polge and Christopher Sheldrake.Another journey in the wake of a Gabrielle who fully embraced the dazzle of black and Venice, incorporating them not only into her creations but into her life.Top notes: grapefruit, Calabrian bergamot, Heart: rose, narcissus, rose geranium leaf and jasmine.

This is definitely an autumn/winter/evening perfume as it's quite strong. I put on some Coco Mademoiselle to hopefully revive it but no luck.Coco Noir is warm, spicy, sexy, intriguing and very similar to Coco, but there is an underlying "greenness" that comes out, especially in the beginning. If you haven't tried this beauty yet, you're in for a treat, I highly recommend it! I don't think this is a sexy perfume, and it is not really office appropriate. When I first apply Coco Noir, and I know this might sound odd to some, but I get a very prominent whiff of vintage (and awesome) Magie Noire :) Coco used to be a Powerhouse, but of course since the 80's it has been reformulated. I imagine someone wearing it maybe at the airport, maybe at an art gallery...I really thought for a while to buy one for myself but I think I prefer Coco over this which is more old school and classic. I have already reviewed this fragrance but I have to add something. Y vanilla or tonka that might be in this fragrance, is not not noticeable to me. My skin brings out first the spicy side of this fragrance, especially cloves and then garanium and narcissus.

If anyone has the chance to smell the body lotion, please do - the lotion, not the cream. I have been known in the past to change my opinion on these grand-dames of fragrance, but I have given CN several chances and have come to the same conclusion each time. Strangely the fresh citrus top notes come after a couple of hours and quite intensively. Then, in 2001, came Coco Mademoiselle, a breath of air that lightens this cornucopia of fragrance, in which everything is simplified and accelerated in a radiant burst of fruit and flower.
